This Month We are beginning our February Diet and Exercise Challenge. For those of you who would like to follow along, you can get a copy of the book we are using HERE (bottom of page, no image book is called Better Homes and Gardens Diet Book, they are aroun 50 cents a copy). Now Click HERE to go the Challenge Page.

Here I believe our Vintage Guru of Jack Lalane shall be an important factor in the Vintage Diet and Exercise Regime. I think his "10-Point Plan" is a great way for all we Vintage Ladies to get our mindset ready for our Vintage Health, Diet, and Exercise. We can do it ladies and we don't need to wear spandex at highpriced gyms!

So let's start with his advice on healthy meals.

Here he tells us a luncheon menu to try for five days.

Of course, a gal needs a low-cal dessert as well. (although this is high in sugar, it is less overall calories than a piece of pie and of course is not processed)

Okay, now I think we vintage gals can try our hand at some vintage exercise. Back in the 1950's he WAS the exercise show available to homemakers. Many women tuned into Mr. Lalane's show to learn about exercise, health and diet. He definitely was ahead of his time and I have come to realize his very basic advice is very relevant even today. Why bother getting 'diet plans' with premade meals or 'powerbars' etc. Don't let your health and weight ALSO be sold out to the Corporate world. We Vintage Gals are smarter than that and I think with Mr. Lalanes help, we can all get healther, shed those extra pounds and improve our physical and mental life. I hope you will want to join me.

Now, here is a link to the JACKLALANESHOW.(No I am not getting paid to lead you to this site, but perhaps I should, just kidding. I think it a great chance to use vintage workouts, don't you?)You can actually go through each of his old broadcasts and do the exercise. I know I am going to try. I think I might start February 1, just as I feel that will give me time to get on top of some of the things for this site, but you start whenever you want. WE can discuss it briefly below on the COMMENT BOX and then also in detail on the FORUM under the Vintage Diet & Exercise heading.

This will be the main book I will be referring to on this page. Others may send me other infor or suggest other vintage boks. This was published in 1955 and I recieved this from on of the darling followers of my blog. You can go here to the BOOKS page and find it. I have put a link to some inexpensive copies on Amazon. I saw around 10 available at a good price. I will be sharing info from the book, but it might be nice to have your own copy.

Here are some basic Exercises from the book.

Here is a great DAILY DIET DIARY (just click on the word) that you can print out and try out.
